This is cool. It would be a great way to teach people to read a topo map.

I'm imagining some pretty cool applications integrating this with video games. This would be a blast with something like From Dust .

I saw that yesterday, the want it great. Its like a cooler (but more limited) version of a project I want to do one of these days:
1. buy old tv from goodwill (preferably flat)
2. buy old underlit drafting table
3. remove lighting, remove opaque glass
4. insert TV facing up
5. put on new thick transparent map
6. buy cheap streaming device with whatever the stupid android version of airplay is called...on it.
7. build in large map storage rack underneath
The idea would be that I can use it as a map table with the tv on static or white or whatever as a light, and then I connect with my phone and have google earth to overlay and compare.
